What is the Obituary Assistant?
The Obituary Assistant is an AI-powered tool that helps you write a thoughtful and personalized biography for your loved one’s memorial page on Keeper. It guides you through prompts and generates a draft based on the information you provide.
Who can use the Obituary Assistant?
The Obituary Assistant is available on select memorials. If you have a Free memorial, you’ll be prompted to upgrade in order to access this feature.
How do I access the Obituary Assistant?
When editing a memorial page, Keeper Plus users will see the option to launch the Obituary Assistant. It opens in a pop-up window (modal) and walks you through the process step by step.
What kind of information will I need to provide?
The Assistant is divided into helpful sections to guide your writing:
- Basic Information: Full name, maiden name (if applicable), date of birth, date of passing,location of death, etc.
- Family: Names and relationships of important relatives.
- Ceremonial Details: Funeral or service information and special requests.
- Education & Achievements: Schooling, degrees, and major accomplishments.
- Career: Career path, job roles, and professional highlights.
- Personality & Interests: Traits (e.g., kind, generous, funny) and favorite hobbies, passions, or things they loved.
- Generation Options: Choose between writing a traditional obituary or a life story. You can also customize the tone (formal, heartfelt, lighthearted) and length.
What happens after I click “Generate”?
The Assistant will produce a personalized obituary based on your input. Once it's generated, you can:
- Add it to the memorial page
- Regenerate it to get a different version
- Copy it to paste or edit elsewhere
- Top the obituary to make it the featured biography on the page
Can I make changes after it’s added to the memorial?
Yes! Once the obituary is added to the memorial, you can edit and fine-tune it using Keeper’s text editor before publishing.
Do I need to fill out every section?
Not at all. You can complete as many or as few sections as you'd like. The Assistant will generate a meaningful draft with whatever information you provide.
Can I create multiple versions or adjust the tone?
Absolutely. You can modify the content or tone settings and click “Generate” again to create different versions until you’re satisfied.
